KOCAELİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES Kocaeli University Institute of Health Sciences (Graduate Studies, Institute for Health Sciences) "Higher Education Act" (Law Number: 2547, date of enactment: November 4, 1981) defines the goals and principles pertaining to higher education, and in this context doctoral education, and establishes principles related to the functioning, duties, authority, and responsibilities in connection with education, research, publication, teaching staff, students and other personnel of institutions of higher education and their governing bodies. Kocaeli University Institute of Health Sciences (KOUIHS) was founded in 1994 according to the universities law (2547) that defines an institute as health research and application units on more than similar scientific branches, and has continued its action ever since the foundation of the university. KOUIHS represents many disciplines, many methods, and many perspectives. The simply implies that the frame of institute concept is defined as the "related scientific branches in medicine sciences such as medical biology and genetics, anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, ethics, pharmacolgy, mental health, public health and nurses’ health studies in higher education". By bringing together a diverse group that is able to consider issues through different perspectives, KOUIHS able to create new and innovative solutions to today's pressing educational problems. New strategies and methods are tested and refined in school districts throughout the nation. (The Nurses' Health Study is among the largest prospective investigations into the risk factors for major chronic diseases in people. The studies have grown to include a team of clinicians, epidemiologists, and statisticians at laboratory along with collaborating investigators and consultants in the surrounding medical community of the KOU Medical School). According to KOUIHS regulations, after the licance programme, minimum education period of two and four years is required to be qualified for the MsC and PhD degree, respectively. Upon successful completion of all required exams and thesis time, the degree of “Master of Science” (MsC) and “Philosophia Doctor” (PhD) is awarded. |
